The cross-country skiing area Slingia/Schlinig (IT)
At the very heart of Nordic Skiing
On the border with the Swiss Engadine lies the small mountain village of Slingia/Schlinig beneath the Sesvenna Mountain Group. With its hamlet of Prämajur on the slopes of the Watles ski area, Slingia/Schlinig gives one the impression of a sleepy, romantic mountain village. In winter, the cross-country skiing and biathlon elites converge here, when national and international competitions are staged.
Both classic cross-country skiing and skating take place along the 15 km-long ski-trail leading from Slingia/Schlinig at 1,726 m to the Schliniger Alm hut.
Slingia/Schlinig has its own cross-country skiing school as well as a Nordic Skiing Centre with changing rooms, ski waxing service and other facilities. All kinds of winter sports equipment can be rented locally. The roller tracks in Slingia/Schlinig and Val Martelltal Valley in South Tyrol enable cross-country training also in summer.
